J'aime Chicago

There are a million reasons why I love Chicago, weather recently leading the list, but today it is this, voices. From my spot at a local coffee shop, I can hear two women speaking French and one woman with a British accent, all mixed together with the thick Chicago long "a" so aptly ridiculed, think, Da Bears. With the undercurrent of Spanish that runs through every neighborhood in the city, the end result is both very far away and very close to home, and a lovely way to listen to a semi quiet morning after a much too late night.
