Mary Poppins opened in March and will close July 12th. Jack has spent hours of free time researching the best ticket options, intent on getting the very best seat at the very best price, and he did a fine job. Less than a year ago we were not sure they would sit through a one hour play based on one of their favorite books, Duck For President, and we were wrong, they loved it. In May we braved The Wizard of Oz and although that one had me nodding off, Mary and Kate were enchanted.
They were up early, knowing it was Mary Poppins day. There was a great deal of conversation about clothing, and then an argument, who was to be Jane and who was to be Michael? Perhaps you could both be Jane, just for today, wouldn't that be easier? And what about sailor dresses, I think that might just be the perfect thing to wear, they finally agreed, but without certainty as I was really unable to explain period clothing to them in the 7 minutes I had to get them dressed and out the door.
Two little girls, absolutely in love with Mary Poppins, could not find a better way to spend the first warm and sunny day in weeks, nor could their mother, herself quite smitten. Of course the best way to see anything is through the eyes of a four year old, watching them watch one of my childhood favorites somehow made Mary Poppins even more magical.
It really was practically perfect in every way.

Oops...I am guessing the 7 minute dressing time was my fault.. Sorry!! However, your beautiful little girls would be just fabulous in anything they put on...or opted not to. ;)
